Is there a search engine out there that cares about you?

unamoo-a-safer-searchAs a parent and professional, you know the importance of finding a safe search engine that will keep you and your children safe from unsavory and suspicious content like adult web sites, phishing sites and virus web sites.

And you know that you can protect your home from the web invasion with filters on your computer and on the major search engines, like MSN live, Google and Yahoo. But you also know that these filters don’t work that well, often deplete your viable search results, slow your system down, and are easier for your children to turn off than they are for you to turn them on. And you know that the sub-par filters are only there to stay the steady stream of complaints.

You know that big search engines are more about making money than about providing safe, helpful searches for you, your children, your workplace, your church and your schools.

Isn’t there a search engine out there that cares about you?

Of course there is.

It’s Unamoo.

Unamoo is a safer search engine with embedded filters that can not be turned off and on and won’t deter your searches and Unamoo has its own set of objectives specifically aimed at making the internet a safer and more efficient place to search:

Filter First - Every site that comes to Unamoo will be sent through a filter that catches malicious content, suspicious content, adult content and sites that distribute malware, spyware and phishing programs.

You Submit - Every user of Unamoo will have the opportunity to, and will be encouraged to, submit safe sites that should be searchable on the engine.

Human Scan - Every site submitted by users to Unamoo will be scanned by a pair of human eyes to ensure unsavory content is not present.

Community Watch – Every user of Unamoo will have the opportunity to, and will be encouraged to, report sites they feel promote malicious and unsavory content.

Human Investigation -Every time a user reports a site, Unamoo will investigate the claim to ensure that every site on Unamoo is safe and efficient for the user community.

And of course, all of this ties into Unamoo’s #1 Objective: a safer internet search engine powered by and for the user community.

But remember, Unamoo is new and needs your help to succeed in becoming a more efficient and safer place to search for the keywords you want to know about, whether it’s statistics, learning about sex, the human form in art, Disney or butterflies, even breast enhancements. All of these searches on Unamoo are possible, dignified, and safe.

It is Unamoo’s goal to get users involved in the creation and maintenance of the internet’s most user-friendly search engine. And while Unamoo may not be right for everyone, it can be right for those who want a safe-haven for searching.

Search for educational videos with WatchKnow

logoThe Internet is full of useful information, but it’s disorganized and often unreliable.

Despite its problems, the potential of the Internet for education is especially huge. Imagine tapping into that potential.

2009-10-20_1035Imagine collecting all the best free educational videos made for children, and making them findable and watchable on one website. Then imagine creating many, many more such videos.

Just think: millions of great short videos, and other watchable media, explaining every topic taught in schools, in every major language on Earth.

Finally, imagine them all deeply and usefully categorized according to subject, education level, and placed in the order in which topics are typically taught.

WatchKnow—as in, “You watch, you know”—has started building this resource. WatchKnow is both a resource for users and also a non-profit, online community that encourages everyone to collect, create, and share free, innovative, educational videos.

WatchKnow is now officially launched, after being developed for over a year. Whether you’re a student, a parent, a teacher, or just someone who cares about the education of children, you can now use our service and get involved to make it even better. Please sign up! (But did you know that you can add new videos to our system without signing up? They’ll have to be approved first.)

There is no better online cause than the future of our children. And just imagine how fantastic it would be if there were a resource online we could go to, or send our kids to, that would explain every topic they study in school instantly and reliably. Many of the resources needed for such a site already exist online; they just need to be organized.
