On Friday 23th of October, a new and updated version of the search service is released. Since its launch, Spezify has been internationally acknowledged as an innovative and new way of searching the web.

“In this version we’ve widened the array of medias to include sound and music. This was the next logical step, as we’re aiming for a completely media independent search experience, with everything under one roof.” Per Persson, co-Founder of Spezify, says.

In addition to more media types, more useful functions has been added, such as better search result filtering, zooming, ability to save and send favourites and more.

Spezify is a search service presenting images, sounds, videos and texts side by side. The service was founded by Felix af Ekenstam and Per Persson of Stockholm, both with more than 10 years of experience within the creative industry. Spezify was released on June 15, 2009.

This is one of the few visual search engines that I actually find useful. The way Spezify throws out the search results in a somewhat unordered fashion on the screen, mixing images and newspaper clipping like text excerpts, just feels comfortable to my mind and work exceptionally well as a brainstorming tool for a new subject.
