Deep Web Technologies’ Mednar has been named the 2008 best health information search engine by AltSearchEngines, a well-respected blog that focuses on specialty search engines.

Mednar (still in beta) debuted in November 2008, as a one-stop federated search engine designed for professional medical researchers. It enables users to quickly access information from a multitude of credible sources, including deep web content not indexed by popular search engines.

“Mednar offers access to an array of databases that are simply not mined by other health search engines and features a dependable email alert service that enables users to keep up on the latest publications on the medical topics of their choice,” said AltSearchEngines reviewer Hope Leman. “Mednar is the Secretariat and gold medal winner of medical search at this point.”

“This is a great honor and confirmation that quality trumps all,” said Abe Lederman, founder and President of Deep Web Technologies. “We’re committed to creating search engines that deliver high value to researchers by getting them to information that’s often hidden in the deep web. It’s fulfilling to see our work recognized by AltSearchEngines.”

Mednar uses federated search technology to simultaneously search sources of quality medical information in real-time. It queries only those select, high-quality databases, ensuring superior results. With this approach, irrelevant items, outdated articles and spam are not retrieved, allowing for the exploration of only the most pertinent data, which is delivered in relevance-ranked order. Information sources are constantly evaluated by Mednar staff, building an ever-larger library of information without sacrificing quality or precision of results. Researchers can also take advantage of Mednar’s many tools to narrow their searches, drill down into topics, automatically receive email-based updates, and discover new information sources.

Mednar is powered by Explorit Research Accelerator(TM), Deep Web Technologies’ federated search technology. Federated search is the future of search, because of its ease-of-use and power to find content not normally indexed by the popular search engines, including Google, Yahoo! and others. Federated search performs real-time, parallel searches of multiple information sources, merging the results into one page. Freely searchable value-added content is available through federated search engines surfacing it to a variety of users, who might otherwise not be aware of its existence.

Federated Search is a great information discovery tool that enables the rapid and cost-effective integration of multiple, valuable information sources into one web-portal without significant expense or effort on the part of content owners.

Mednar’s number-one rating comes on the heels of accolades for Deep Web Technologies’ science search engines. A blog from the UK’s lauded Heriot-Watt University, best known for its innovative education and leading-edge research, includes five science search engines produced by Deep Web Technologies: Scitopia.org, Science.gov, ScienceResearch.com, WorldWideScience.org, and ScienceAccelerator.gov — as “very good science/technology search engines” that will “give much more focused search results than Google.”

Interesting fact: Most people say I look like Spiderman. I was born in Miami, FL, USA and I now live in Israel. I’m the non-eastern time zone component of AltSearchEngines. This means that when Charles is asleep, I can keep the research going and find more interesting, and sometimes weird, alternative search engines. I’m 24, and I’ve been making a living writing since I graduated from college, though I also do a few interesting things on the side. For example, I teach religious Jewish singles (both guys and girls) how to be more attractive on dates. It’s a problem when you’ve grown up in a separated education environment and you have little experience talking with other genders, so I do what I can. In terms of writing, besides posting on search engines for Charles, I’m ghostwriting a book about prayer, and I write humor for fun. You can check out some of my funny stuff at www.arfibarfer.com.

How to uh search for sex in Polish

sexyThere are questions that many people want to know the answers for, but are too embarrassed to ask. Such is the situation of sex in Poland. As we all know, sex education in most schools still leaves much to be desired, so most people use the Internet, if they want to find answers to their  burning questions. And so was created the question and answer search portal SexPytania.pl.

Above all, the authors encourage you to ask questions, no matter how stupid or seemingly irrelevant. Users are therefore asking for anything. On the one hand, many are interested in their average length of Poland (??), on the other, asking what to do to raise the girl (??). Most importantly, if users view most of the questions, none of them remains without a response.

The interface part is also quite pleasant and intuitive. You can ask questions and provide answers to those posed by other users. I think that in the future  you should be able to attempt to catalog entries, because as far as popularity goes,  some problems will not find content that interests us.

A few months ago AltSearchEngines wrote a review on LeapFish covering an overview of how the search engine functions and the great features it has. This post will give you a more in-depth look into the new search engine that is making leaps of progress.

Free Domain Name Appraisal
When LeapFish was created five years ago it started out by offering a free domain name appraisal tool that would allow you to see the value of a domain name. Unfortunately five years ago it was unable to handle the quick increase in website traffic. However now the tool has been added back into the search engine!

Perform a domain name search:

See what the value of the domain is worth:

LeapFish will take a number of factors into consideration when appraising a domain name. It looks at Domain Length, Domain Popularity, Domain Links, Domain Exposure, and Domain Traffic. The Domain Name Appraisal Tool will provide a score out of 100. This tool is extremely powerful, especially for those who own a bunch of domain names or people who run a business buying and selling domains.

LeapFish’s Advertising Model
With pay per click advertising requiring a lot of knowledge, time, and money to get traffic to your site, it only makes sense that LeapFish create an advertising model that is simplified for users. LeapFish’s advertising model is simple; you pay a one-time purchase price for that ad slot and a 5% renewal fee each year after. The great thing about this model is that no matter how many people click on your ad, you know that you are only paying one price.

Real-Time Search Results
With LeapFish’s new click-free search interface you are able to enter different search queries without ever having to click. LeapFish pulls in Google search results on the fly, pulling in relevant results to what you are searching.

The results are organized is a user friendly manner, so that you can find what you are looking for quickly. The search engine results page has distinct sections for a wide variety of searches. Find News, Shopping, Videos, Images, and Answers all on the same results page.
