The second law of thermodynamics has always bothered me. Energy keeps getting more disorganized, and there’s nothing we can do about it.
All we get, at bottom, comes from the sun, and the best we can do is become more and more efficient at using it without messing the planet up in the process. Granted, green search engines do what they can to encourage efficiency, and as we reported before, GreenPlanetSearch is entirely solar-powered. Encourage efficiency it does, but they’re also advertising-efficiency buffs.
What does this mean for those interested in investing? Take Google, of course, as the Goog Standard. Advertising is in a sidebar, scanning your email in your gmail account, looking over your shoulder, showing up in every search, companies paying 10’s of thousands to just show up there between the hours of 8-10pm on a Sunday evening. The links rely on 5 or so words to attract my attention, and usually they are ignored.
Try full screen advertising. What do I mean? This is what I mean:
Browsing through the hybrid cars section, not only will I find video content on almost every link there, but the graphics right behind me are striking, targeted, and fill up the entire page with color and vive. I never majored in marketing, and I don’t have an MBA. In fact, aside from humor and writing, I have very few useful skills. But something tells me that this is the real way for a company to get its word out on the web.
In the words of Michael Haney, founder of GreenPlanetSearch, the vision is to create more than simply another “green community”or “niche search site” but a thriving, functioning network of individuals, institutions, organizations and corporations who share a common desire to promote a more environmentally-responsible lifestyle – by establishing relationships. Environmentally-responsible consumers will have environmentally-concerned companies to support with their purchases.
Much of the content on GreenPlanetSearch is consumer based, with short, pithy articles getting to the point, and quick, accompanied by a video leading you along.
Right now there are over 135 video articles, and growing. It’s really a pleasure just to go and see this alt. A break from the mundane and a treat for the eyes.
