Coloralo just launched! Coloralo is a search engine for cartoons and coloring pages. It is built with the Yahoo! Search Boss API, that allows developers to easily create original and innovative search engines of many kinds. Coloralo is one of many diverse examples of what can be accomplished with Yahoo BOSS.  Disclaimer: I am working for Yahoo!, but Coloralo was built completely with the public search API available from Yahoo! BOSS.

I have three kids and they are avid consumers of coloring pages, so creating a coloring pages search engine was the first idea that crossed my mind when I thought about what could be built with BOSS. A few days later, Coloralo is now online ! A lot of things can (and hopefully will) be improved, but it is working reasonnably well, and early feedback is positive.

The hardest part in creating Coloralo was actually to find a domain name that I liked and that was available. I finally settled on Coloralo, which means “Color it” in Italian (or so I was told). It sounds also very similar to Colorado.

With the help of some friends, I’ve started international versions of Coloralo in French, German, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. The European languages work reasonably well, but the Asian languages still need some work.

If you speak another language and have a few minutes, please help in translating Coloralo!

Tra i tanti motori di ricerca tematici che possiamo trovare nel web, ecco qua un altro motore dedicato soprattutto ai bambini che permette di effettuare delle ricerche per trovare dei disegni da colorare.

Questo motore di ricerca si appoggia a Yahoo per effettuare le ricerche dei disegni nei siti sparsi in tutto il web, si presenta con la classica interfaccia minimalista ed è disponibile anche nella lingua Italiana.

E’ necessario soltanto inserire nella casella di ricerca una parola chiave per ottenere successivamente la lista dei risultati ottenuti.

Funziona meglio ovvero trova più risultati se vengono inserite delle parole chiavi in Inglese (scegliendo opportunatamente questa lingua direttamente dal sito) come “Animal” per “Animali” e così via …
