The Nipponster Japanese Blog Search Engine

It is a Japanese-specific blog search engine.  Right now it is in the early stages.

It will need lots of tweaking.  I just want to launch it already!

…and get some feedback. So, what do you think?

I wasn’t too sure about this Game Search engine, but I just saw The Dark Knight, so I searched for “Batman,” and it took me to a Batman game!  Might be good for your youngsters (you can sort by age).

Mamaherb – no, not THAT Honey, honey

On AltSearchEngines we have covered many Health Search engines, including Alternative Medicine.  Here we hear from Mamaherb.

Mamaherb: Why we are here?

Two years ago, the mother of one of the site’s co-founders fell ill.  It was Cancer.

She was not young, obviously, and the treatments awaiting here were nothing to look forward to.

The conventional medical treatment she was expected to undergo, consisting of chemotherapy combined with surgery, was known to have unpleasant side-effects. Her son looked for help to reduce her suffering and increase her chances to recover.

He therefore decided to consult alternative medicine. A couple of solutions were tried, and surprisingly enough, they helped! A 74 year-old woman, not a very healthy one at that, underwent her cancer treatments quite easily and successfully. The cancer was gone.  But what actually did the trick?

Was it the wheatgrass juice she had for breakfast? The Organic food she started to eat? The beets and carrots? Or maybe it was just a coincidence? And could it be that there were still other natural medications that would have made her situation more bearable, or even prevented it altogether?  No one can say for sure.

But why? Why is there no methodical and comprehensive research on how natural medication can help us? Research based on hundreds and thousands of cases?  The answer is simple: Economics.

Pharmaceutical companies have no incentive to test and research the effects of wheatgrass on cancer. You cannot get patent protection for wheatgrass. And it’s not very profitable to sell it either. In fact, you can grow it at home. For free!

What about universities? Well, they do some research, but to what extent? Hundreds of cases? Thousands? And how many of the natural solutions do they cover?  Now, the power of the web comes into play.

At Mamaherb, people from all over the world can share their knowledge about herbs and other natural substances they’ve experienced as helpful, or even been tipped off about by their family members, friends, or even by their grandma.

Others, hopefully as many as possible, can try and share their experiences, add comments, suggestions and surveys. So, if you are in need of a ingredient or treatment (lets hope none of us will ever be), you can seek alternative assistance or advice for any health problem.

A word of caution: people are very different from one another. Some are young, some are old. Some have allergies, some are not healthy. Some are used to spicy food, while others daren’t even smell it. Use caution. Be smart. Consult a professional and never take what you read on this site for granted. Its only advice given by others and should be regarded as such.
