Netfinder has taken all of the work out of discovering search engines – and some search related sites – for New Zealand, so I’m just going to reproduce them here in their entirety.  The site offers far more than just search engines, so you can just follow the link to check out anything else that you might want to know about the Land of the Kiwis.

The Top 3 Alternative TV Search Engines

For the uninitiated, The Avengers was a stylish blend of espionage and science fiction that appealed to those who enjoyed witty, slightly off-beat humor. While this British show acquired quite a following back in the late sixties, it has been kept alive as a cult favorite by the baby-boomers who grew up with it – like me.

Airing from 1961-1969, The Avengers became one of the most popular TV series of all time. Much of the show’s popularity was due to the pairing of Patrick Macnee and Diana Rigg as secret agents John Steed and Emma Peel.

We started out with high hopes of finding 10 TV Search Engines – not Video clips or TV show directories, and it can’t be done, so here are three we like – in no particular order. They must be able to find this TV show to qualify, and ideally the episode “House that Jack Built” – just to make it interesting.

#1 – Couchville House That Jack Built Airdate: March 05, 1966. Episode Description: In the country to inspect a house she inherited, Emma is trapped in a giant machine built for revenge.

#2 – TV.com The House That Jack Built: Community Score 8.9 – Great. Emma inherits some property from her deceased Uncle Jack. The property is a very bizaarre house, and when Emma finds herself trapped in a labyrinth of psychological torture.

#3 LocateTV

If you do find another one, please leave a comment, and we will update this post.

TV Search Trivia question #1: Who created the .tv domain – as in www.ceefax.tv?

#2: How did ‘Emma Peel’ get that particular name?

First one to post the correct answers wins!

The AllPlus Universal Meta Search and Discovery Engine aims to identify and present the very best search results from the very best information sources on the Web, including Google, Yahoo, MSN Live and Ask.com; Web pages, News, Images, Videos and Blogs. The results are compared and ranked and presented to the user in an intuitive and organized way, similar to Kosmix’s topic overview pages.

They have also developed integrated Natural Language Processing algorithms in the query analysis and refinement, search strategy, relevancy ranking, focused drill-down and exploration of multi-dimensional information spaces. AllPlus also employs multiple spell checkers based on our comprehensive English, Medical and Scientific Dictionaries. The system dynamically generates Topic Clusters and visualizes the search results in the form of Cluster Graphs.

AllPlus.com is built on the PolyMeta meta search engine. They have been developing PolyMeta for about 5 years and AllPlus is a new way of presenting the results using the multidimensional approach. On the left side you can see their clusters like Vivisimo does, but in two different forms. The first one is a plain tree, and the other one is a hypertree version of the clusters (see below).

AllPlus works just like a regular search engine, so if you have never used it before, please give it a quick trial today and leave a comment here, or you can email them directly at info@allplus.com and mention AltSearchEngines.com!
