Music Search Engines | Musicmachine

Synopsis:  Last week Read/WriteWeb featured Online Music, and to lend our support, AltSearchEngines listed our Top 10 Alternative Music Search Engines.

Luckily for us, our readers are our greatest source of new search engine discoveries, and this time was no different.  One reader suggested the Musicmachine.  Well, we checked it out – as we do all suggestions – and were very impressed.

So here’s “one we missed:”  the Musicmachine;  Our Search Engine of the Day.


The Musicmachine offers not 10 (as we did) Music search engines, but 26! 

And there is a very definite international flavor to the choices.




I picked Vinden.nl from the Netherlands, and searched for the same song:
 Rihanna’s ‘Umbrella.’           


Here’s the result:

So here we have an excellent example of “Vertical Life.”   Under the broad heading of MultiMedia search, we can branch out to Audio search and Video search.   And within Audio search, Vinden returns MP3 files (As with MP3Realm, Seeqpod and SkreemR.), MP3 search being the narrowest vertical.

    exoGet just opened yesterday, I’m trying to get it going in the blogosphere, I found your blog on technorati.

    exoGet returns a lot more results than the search engines you listed and also does video.

    It’s very fast and also web 2.0′ish, both technically (xhtml strict valid) and on user interaction.
