The week ahead:

On Saturday, our International search engine day, we looked at Zniff, an Icelandic alternative search engine. We also put out the “Help Wanted” sign for translators.

Today, Sunday, is set aside for religious sites. In the past we have seen the Vatican’s search engine; also Buddhist, Evangelical Christian, Catholic, and last week, TorahSearch! This week we look at a site for Messianic Jews.

Mondays I do a feature story on a search vertical, and tomorrow I will be looking at People search engine sites. Just what, exactly, can the specialty search engines such as Peek You, Zabasearch, or pipl find out about a person? I’ll take a hard look.

Tuesdays are “Great Debate” nights. The topic and participants this week are to be announced. Tuesday afternoon, 4 pm EST, 1 pm PST.

Wednesday we take another “View from the Corner Office” and visit the CEO and Co-Founder of of Kosmix, Venky Harinarayan.

Thursdays are Guest Author days, and we’ll feature a special article Thursday.

On Fridays were have the “Fab Four,” four really alternative search engines,

Saturday we’ll continue our trip series, “Around the World in 80 weeks,” and visit another country!

Plus everyday we introduce a new Alternative Search Engine, news and updates.

What is a Messianic Jew?

MessianicLinks.com is a religious search engine for Messianic Jews; but what is a Messianic Jew? Here’s a good Wikipedia summary:

Messianic Judaism is a religious movement or sect whose congregants comprise both ethnic Jews and Gentiles who believe that Jesus of Nazareth, whom they call “Yeshua,” is both their savior and the resurrected Jewish Messiah. While Messianic Jews practice their faith in a way that they consider to be authentically Torah-observant and culturally Jewish, Jews, Jewish denominations, and most Christians do not consider Messianic Judaism to be a form of Judaism. Messianic Jews are also not considered Jewish under the State of Israel’s Law of Return.
