Endeca Chief Scientist to Present on Faceted Search

top_logoEndeca Technologies, a search applications company, announced today that Co-Founder Pete Bell and Chief Scientist, Daniel Tunkelang, will give the UIE Seminar, Faceted Search: Designing Your Content, Navigation, and User Interface on Thursday, August 20, 2009.

“As more organizations jump from a standard on-site search to faceted search, the design process also needs to change, requiring more up-front and long-term planning,” said Jared M. Spool, CEO & Founding Principal, User Interface Engineering. “Users come to a site to get the information they need, by exploring, discovering, and making comparisons. Faceted search delivers on the promise to allow users to successfully sift through content quickly and effectively make decisions.”*

While faceted search delivers tremendous power to the user, it changes the design process for site owners. To better understand these changes, Jared Spool has enlisted industry experts Bell and Tunkelang to host this month’s online seminar provided by User Interface Engineering.

As Chief Scientist at Endeca, Daniel Tunkelang is a recognized industry advocate for a dialog-oriented and exploratory approach to search. He writes about this and related topics in his blog, The Noisy Channel. In addition to his work at Endeca, Tunkelang has recently published his first book, Faceted Search, as part of the prestigious Morgan and Claypool Synthesis Lectures on Information Concepts, Retrieval, and Services.
