When you go searching on the Internet, you don’t want garbage. This new search engine has found a way to help you filter through your searches to find eco-friendly results and help the environment.
This “Eco-Google” allows users to enjoy the benefits of the powerful Google search with the added benefit of an “Eco-filter”. The Eco-Filter is an added option designed to enhance Google searches to bring you relevant, green search results. TheEcoKey was produced to provide Web users with a means for finding environmentally friendly companies and products more easily.
For example under the “Eco filter” option a search for “dish soap” delivers results that are limited to eco-friendly, sustainable dish soap. A search for “school bus” brings up biodiesel sites and emissions reduction information for buses. Eco-Keying “Obama” produces a string of results on the President’s green energy policy and the New Energy for America plan.
We have essentially created a ‘green search lens for when you need to search eco friendly ideas, products and services. Not only does the site provide green results, but with the use of this new search engine you will also be helping to support trash cleanup across America. We donate 40% of our revenue to organizations that remove litter/pollution from highways, parks, beaches, and other mini-ecosystems.
We have set the bar at one million users in order to make a noticeable impact. If we can get one million people to set TheEcoKey as their home page, our efforts will be able to remove roughly 900 tons of plastic and garbage from the ecosystem and will raise awareness with almost four million people. Note: Currently Yahoo BOSS doesn’t have API to get full content of a page in the search result, so PopGist has to fetch pages in the result list for each query and this makes PopGist slow to response to user queries.
