News from the FAROO Blog. Now we are twittering!

Follow us on twitter.com/faroo_p2p to stay informed or send a tweet @faroo_p2p to get in touch.

After integrating Twitter search into FAROO we thought we should give some content back ;-)

P.S. You may follow us also on friendfeed.com/faroo

After our previous user interface served us for more than three years, we decided to look for a cleaner, more consistent, more modern (Web 2.0-ish) design.

We tried to remove all non essential level of details, and to focus on search. It’s time to move on from the developer and technology perspective and to give the user experience first priority.

And finally, we integrated the first stage of social search into the new design.

While our P2P technology has many advantages, we don’t expect the average user to look into this deeply. In our fast moving times the decision whether he likes our search is made within seconds, rather than by intense evaluation.

We hope that our new design will help to make a good first impression.

It will be shipped with the next release.

Let us know what you think.

whatif

Go ahead, ask us a question. WhatifSearch crawls the web to help you find the information you are looking for. WhatifSearch is different from other search engines, because we understand the questions you ask. Instead of sending you off to some web site to find the answer yourself, WhatifSearch shows you the answer right in the search results.

Answer: Absinthe today is just another spirit, it’s processed to a higher purity standard than it was years ago, impurities that gave it it’s euphoric and/or hallucinogenic effect were poisons due to the way it was manufactured via the herbs and spices added. Today’s absinthe is made without the addition of wormwood.

What if I want to see green fairies?

Answer: Sorry. Absinthe was called “The Green Fairy” because of its green color. It also seems like the reputed hallucinogenic effects of absinthe are probably more myth than fact. My experience with absinthe is that it provided a very alert state of drunkenness, i.e. I was very uninhibited, but also very clear headed.

What if I hallucinate and go mad?

Answer: There are two main components to absinthe which supposedly caused hallucinations and insanity ~ thujone & alcohol. it was most likely the extremely high alcohol content of absinthe which did them in. absinthe was as much as 75% alcohol ~ that’ll mess with your head for sure. thujone, although potentially hallucinogenic, takes a back seat to the alcohol induced psychotic ride.

Juice, the Intelligent Discovery Engine

It’s the Intelligent Discovery Engine:

juiceJuice’s discovery mechanism is grounded on Linkool Labs’ proprietary intelligent discovery engine. This engine, comprised of a natural language processing system and a dictionary management system, helps to evolve the semantic web by connecting keywords with the most relevant, rich content from third-party web services.

Discover & Organize

You can bookmark and organize rich content discovered for you! For example, when Juice delivers a video to you, you can simply add the video into your personal video playlist – for current or future viewing! You can also do this with the videos and images you discover yourself while browsing the web, by dragging the image or tab attached to the videos

Drag & Drop

Grab a chunk of text, image or video and Juice will start performing its tricks. When dropping text into Juice, we’ll try to understand its meaning and serve you with context-relevant information. In the case of images or videos, we’ll let you store them for later viewing, while you keep browsing just the way you like!
