What’s Mining is Now Yours

Do you fine fellow ASE readers remember a post a few days ago about an alt that specialized in only searching for video surveillance articles? Well, if you thought that was quite deeeeep in a narrow niche, check out this one: SearchMining!

Searchmining.net was created specifically for the mining industry. In conjunction with other key industry figures, they have hand-picked the most relevant mining websites, allowing their users to search through their collection. And in 20 days, SearchMining will be officially launched at MINExpo International in Las Vegas. There, users are invited to the Hilton there to see what the site offers and some of its features.

Some of the interesting ones: A list of suggested search terms to the newbie in the mine-search arena, sub-search categories of coal, metals, minerals, precious materials, equipment, safety, and other such mine-appropriate subjects. They also have products available in their database for someone interested in doing the heavy-duty mining work themselves, or just to collect expensive mining equipment, which I wouldn’t really recommend doing so much.

They also have a search box which can be downloaded to subscribers’ websites and also into personal users’ web browsers, and they stream regularly updated headlines from MiningNews.net.

Since being launched in Australia in March 2008, SearchMining.net has gathered an audience of more than 15,000 users per month and more than 40,000 searches per month.
