There are several icon search engines out there on the internet, and each of them have their own strengths and weaknesses. Here is a quick list of the ones we found with brief descriptions of what they have to offer.
Iconfinder – Very easy to navigate, provides results in an extremely organized and useful manner, and the quality of the icon are superb. Overall, this is the best icon search engine out there. It might not have the largest database, but that doesn’t mean it can’t satisfy your icon searching needs.
IconLook – IconLook has the most modern looking interface of all the icon search engines, and it provides the most graphically appealing icon results. The icons are bubbly and very web 2.0, and the amount of results returned aren’t bad either. If you are looking for the most eye-catching icons, then this is the place to go.
Challenger.se (IconDb) – This is not a standalone icon search, and takes a second to realize how to actually start the searching, but that doesn’t matter since this is just so amazing. (Click on the IconDB button on the right side to begin search). IconDB not only provides results which are unique and stylish, but the database is extremely large as well. This is the best icon search in terms of overall results.
Icons-search – This website also provides visually pleasing icons and is very easy to work with since it provides all the results on one page. The problem however lies in the variety of search results it provides. Not only is the database somewhat limited, but much of the results are merely the same icons in a different size. Nevertheless, this is a good alternative, and if you are looking for icons of all sizes, then this is the place for you.
Iconlet has probably the cleanest and simplest interface, but therein lays the problem, it is too simple. The biggest issue is the quality of the icons, for they are very minimalist, primitive, and look outdated.

Great List…
I had a chance to check out the links and the best (imho) is probably IconLook.
The results page has a good layout as well as giving you options to download as an ico or png file in multiple sizes.
