We interrupt this blog for an important message…

I want to be perfectly clear about this:

These alternative search engines listed below have taken money out of their own pockets in order to support AltSearchEngines and therefore benefit hundreds of Alts, including their own competitors!
Not every Alt Search Engine has the funds to purchase ads; how commendable that whose who can, do.

That level of commitment deserves our utmost respect, and I urge you to visit each one of their sites.

How will AltSearchEngines continue to promote the Alternative Search Engines?

By standing on the shoulders of those who have the resources and determination to be our sponsors in 2008/2009.

For a Media Kit, just email me Charles@ReadWriteWeb.com.

Thanks, Sponsors! Thank you very, very much!

    Thanks Charles.

You said… “and therefore benefit hundreds of Alts, including their own competitors!” I think it’s key for all of us to consider that to a very great degree, we’re not really competing with each other. We’re competing against the user habits of heading directly to one of the Big 5 Engines. We’re competing against every other thing a user could be doing - online or off - just as any media company is.

There’s a reason there’s often three gas stations on some corners. Even if they’re competitors. That’s just where the gas is. Whenever or wherever we even think about competing, we should be thinking more about the clinched, but appropriate term “coopitition.” We can’t afford to squander resources competing with each other. We can always fight about market share later; once we get any! : ) Our resources need to focus on a much harder task of educating typical users and changing their habit patterns. Showing them that there’s depth and value outside of their usual search venues. Altsearchengines.com is becoming sort of ‘our’ corner. Where the alts are.

Keep up the good work Charles!
