Metaverse Ink is pleased to announce the production release of Metaverse Ink search, the first independent search engine explicitly designed for virtual worlds like Second Life. The Metaverse Ink search system provides the following capabilities:

For each search, Metaverse Ink provides you with the name of the matching objects, their pictures, price and descriptions. It also provides SLURLs so you can teleport directly to the selected object.

> AGGRESSIVE PRIVACY PROTECTION
Virtual Worlds like Second Life provide a more personal way to experience the internet. This more personal experience demands more privacy protection. Metaverse Ink search does not record who searched for what, so we can never sell or give this information to anyone. We respect all Linden Lab search settings, and include only parcels marked “Show in search”. Additionally, we provide a simple mechanism for people to opt-out from our search.

Metaverse Ink allows you to conduct your search from within Linden Lab’s Second Life client or from any web browser, without needing to log in to Second Life.

Web search engines use web concepts like in-bound hyperlink counts to determine popularity. Since there are no hyperlinks in Second Life we have developed heuristics based on a deep understanding of Second Life structures, uses, and social networking.

Metaverse Ink has the capability to look inside vending systems and include into the search results the products they contain.

We believe that Metaverse Ink’s search is the best search engine for the Metaverse, period. But we also understand that choice is good. So we give you the ability to conduct your search on any of three search engines: Metaverse Ink search, the default Second Life search system or Google. Try them all, compare results. We give you the freedom to change search engines on the fly.
