Heather Dougherty, Hitwise:
Googlr + Yahoo! + MSN + Ask = 98% of market share. Alt search engines? All of them? 2% (same as last year) Hmmm
From a search, many people go to shopping or entertainment sites, but together they are still only 25% of destinations.
Most people are loyal to one of the major search engines and they have slightly different users (women and Ask,com?)
Jeremy Crane, Compete:
Year over year, Ask moved “up” – to 4%. Google progressed steadil upwards (say 65% to 70%), so who lost? Obviously Yahoo! and MSN, both down from last year.
The “second click” – when someone goes to a search engine and then another part within that same search engine (e.g. from Ask to Ask City).
Roger Barnette:
The economy may be tanking, but ad spending with the major search engines is strong – and actually up.
