In a move to make it easier for search engine users to find the most accurate results, RedZee Search announced today that it has abandoned the standard text-based search results and replaced them with visuals.
The Tampa, Fla.-based search engine says new technology makes it possible to produce the top 100 Web pages that match queries, instead of the conventional top 10 search results found on Google and other text-based search engines.
The new RedZee Search 2.0 displays search results as fanned Web page images. Visitors can quickly peruse the search results by simply mousing over the images and then clicking on the Web site they want to see close-up.
“We believe pictures are worth a thousand words and we’re bringing that philosophy to our search engine,” says John Stewart, president of RedZee Search. “Visuals make it so much easier to see what you like rather than read what you like.”
Almost 85% of searchers settle on what they find on that first page, often leaving them unsuccessful in finding what they truly were looking for. Although the desired results are more than likely buried deep, most people do not have the time or the patience to read through page after page of text based listings.
“They end up settling on the results that seem the closest and most convenient,” says Stewart.
RedZee Search still uses text, meta tags and other text-based tools to scan Web pages to match search criteria. But instead of producing the results in text, on Redzee they’re revealed visually.
With a red and white striped zebra as its corporate mascot, RedZee broke into the crowded search engine market by offering a family-friendly alternative. The company says it continues to be committed to ridding smut from Internet search results, but says it wants to be known as the company that changed the face of online search.
“There will always be people who like text based search engines,” says Stewart. “But we believe there are many people who prefer visuals who will appreciate the way we present results.”
I continue to be impressed by their visual search results. Give it a spin and then leave a comment!

Sorry Charles, but I have to disagree 100% on this one – they’ve turned a perfectly reasonable search engine into a total disaster. In a nutshell; it’s slow, it’s harder to view results quickly, the thumbnail returned is inaccurate, both in terms of not showing the correct page (preferring the index.htm) and in not showing the current version of the page. It has absolutely nothing to commend it and I’m going to be dropping it off my list of alternatives.

Even Googles text results are cached so how do think RedZee images are going to be live? Of course they are going to be stored. I see this as a little bit slower but I am getting a 100 results instead of the standard 10 to 13 and also they are images. I think its pretty fast for being all images. I think
this will never replace Google but at least they are doing something different in a sea of lookalike search engines.

The whole idea is ridiculous. Loads to slow, and if you believe pictures are worth a thousand words, then why do they have directions popping up to explain the picture? Additionally, if they have no end users,or very little, why would anyone pay to advertise there?
Bad idea, slow load,no users….and completely unknown.(**This company has a history on the Internet as a Scam and waste of money)

If this technology isn’t the next best thing to hit search then let me ask all these nay sayers above why there is so many picture based search engines following suit and copying RedZee??? Ever heard of Searchme or ViewZi, look them up geniuses and then come and try to bash image based search!!!

What a joke. Redzee isn’t doing any new at all. In fact, thier phrase is one that Douglas Stewart, a Founder of ISE before John Stewarts arrival ,(parent comapany of Redzee), used in describing his vision using thier old search engine “Searchclimbers”.
Douglas Stewart was the main force behind the start-up of the company and was responsible for most of its clients and advancement. Research shows that RedZee is a morph of Searchclimbers, Linkpositions and Commonnames.
There are not 15 million users and the tactics used by Redzee is the main reason why they have been sued in the past for Fraud.
Douglas Stewart, a true visionary, will be launching a new Search Engine in late 2008, after 3 years of data and refinement collection. This launching will begin a new era in Internet searching and most likely give Redzee its “walking papers”.
His vision will give both consumers and online companies exactly what thier looking for; an opportunity to view and search while tracking sales and profits.
“After all”, Douglas Stewart states, “there’s a reason why Billboards line the highway as people drive by….Showing a hamburger is better than reading about it. Its all about capturing the senses.”

Very scary tactics by these folks. Scares me even more that they want to be the main search engine used by schools!

Just received a call from a RedZee sales rep who walked me through the search engine, it is painfully slow to load and I use Firefox so any webpage I clicked on still showed the search results in the middle of any website I brought up. Found my company’s website on the search but it was an older version of our Home Page. Than he wanted to conduct a subscription complete with payment all by phone. Absolutely not the way I want to en-trust my marketing dollars to a complete stranger placing an out of the blue phone call… I am not impressed!
