For the uninitiated, The Avengers was a stylish blend of espionage and science fiction that appealed to those who enjoyed witty, slightly off-beat humor. While this British show acquired quite a following back in the late sixties, it has been kept alive as a cult favorite by the baby-boomers who grew up with it – like me.
Airing from 1961-1969, The Avengers became one of the most popular TV series of all time. Much of the show’s popularity was due to the pairing of Patrick Macnee and Diana Rigg as secret agents John Steed and Emma Peel.
