Search Engine of the Day: HealthPricer

I just got off the phone with Michael Brown, CEO of HealthPricer.  As the logo states, HealthPricer does one thing, and, by remaining focused, I think they do it very well.

Here are the Top 10 things that you should know about this alternative search engine:

1) What is HealthPricer?
Think of us as your one-stop destination for all your health and wellness product needs. We don’t sell anything, instead we are the only comparison-shopping service focused exclusively on the online health and wellness sector including prescription drugs, contact lenses, non-prescription medicine and supplies, vitamin and nutritional supplements, and beauty and personal care products.

2) What are the benefits of using HealthPricer?
There are several, but the biggest benefits are that you will save two things you can never find enough of: time and money. Because you can find all the health-related products you need in one place, you can find the best discount price online on your favorite products in just a few seconds. And there’s one other big benefit too: our pre-screening process ensures that all our online retailers can be trusted.

3) What can I find at HealthPricer?
We provide access to a wide variety of health and beauty products, including vitamins and supplements, prescription drugs, contact lenses, over-the counter non-prescription medicine products, and beauty products.

4) Is it legal to purchase prescription drug medications online?
Yes, it is 100% legal. HealthPricer has created a quality network of reputable pharmacies which all have state or provincial licenses, and which sell only FDA APPROVED medications. We’ve taken the guesswork out of shopping online, for your peace of mind.

5) Do I purchase products directly from HealthPricer?
No. And because we don’t sell any products ourselves, we are dedicated to helping you find the best possible prices and customer service. When shopping at HealthPricer, once you have selected your product choices, simply click on the “Buy” button and you will go directly to that online merchant’s website to purchase the product.

6) Which online stores can I find at HealthPricer?
Our list of online retailers is growing everyday as we expand our departments. Browse our merchant directory for a list of current participating retailers.

7) What are the shipping terms?
That depends on our retail partners. Shipping terms will differ for each of our retail partners. When you place your order, we recommend that you review the shipping charges before completing your order. In most cases, standard shipping rates apply.

8 If I have a problem with the merchandise ordered, will HealthPricer help me resolve it?
All customer-service related issues should be directed to the online merchant from which you ordered your health products.

9) I’ve typed the name of the product into your search box and I get no results?
Try broadening your search. If you are looking for a specific brand-name of product, you might want to try just typing in the type of product instead. Remember, you can begin your search by brand, ingredient, or category.  Alternately, you can narrow down your search by using our search filters.

10) How can I get personal assistance?
If you require personal assistance, our Client Service Representatives are waiting to help you.
Simply call (604) 301-0221 and speak with one today.

I did an interview with the Information Architect of this site – Anne Yeo – a few months ago. It’s a fascinating site, and this site, along with a host of others, leads me to believe that more and more emphasis for retail sites is being put on searching. Which makes sense, since a cost for any market is the cost of finding the item you’re looking for, and improved searching brings down that cost. Expect to see more markets that pair high power search with markets in the future.
