Today we are going to Brazil, and if this post seems better than usual, it’s because a reader submitted it – not me! Victor Aloi from alternative search engine Migoa (Spain), takes us to Brazil.
Brazil is located in South America and is famous for its soccer, carnival, beaches and beautiful women. Brazil’s native language is Portuguese. According to Nielsen/NetRatings, Brazil ranks 10thin the world for its 18.5 million internet users. This leaves substantial room for growth due to the country’s population of 190 million people. The country is the world leader in average time spent online by a user, with an average time of 23h30 per month (USA = 19h52). Let’s take a look on the Brazilians search engines.
Katatudo.com.br is the most visited among Brazil’s original search engines. It has some special searches by themes, such as local, news, and celebrity. Besides being a search engine, it’s also a portal and email service.
Blogblogs.com.br is the “Brazilian Technorati”. The site was launched last year by Manuel Lemos. It has features such as, top tags, ranking, API and searches by post, blog or blogger.
Gobiblia.com.br is a gospel search engine; their slogan is “Your Christian Search”. The user has the option of searching on Internet or the text of the Old and New Testimonial. The site also includes features such as gospel news and gospel shopping.
Aonde.com.br is a generic search engine, specializing in Brazilian websites. The user can have the option of having an aonde search box on his or her homepage.
Buscape.com.br is one of the most visited sites in Brazil. A search engine for shopping that allows user to compare prices of products and services. The user can watch videos of the products and see other users´ opinions. It has many types of prices comparison such as gasoline and bank services.
Abusca.com.br is a website that allows users to choose which search engine they want to use for searching the web. The site gives many options among the internationals and nationals search engines.
Achei.com.br is a search engine specializing in hotels, city guides, beaches, and services. The site was founded in 1997 and has more than 500.000 Brazilian sites indexed.
