Semantic Search | Search Engine of the Day

Sometimes the Search Engine of the Day is pretty straightforward, with lots of colorful logos and graphics. Other times, they are fairly plain looking and quite sophisticated. SWSE is one of the sophisticated ones!
SWSE is a search engine for RDF on the Web, and provides the equivalent services a search engine currently provides for the HTML Web. The system explores and indexes the Semantic Web and provides an interface through which users can find the information they are looking for. Because of the inherent semantics of RDF and other Semantic Web languages, the search and information retrieval capabilities of SWSE are potentially much more powerful than those of current search engines.
Well, that makes me ask, what is RDF?
Answers.com says, ” (Resource Description Framework) is a recommendation from the W3C for creating meta-data structures that define data on the Web. It is designed to provide a method for classification of data on Web sites in order to improve searching and navigation. Okay…..what really helped me was watching these two demos; just be sure to click on the little yellow “next” arrow in the bottom right corner.
You can view two demos: one exploring the social network of Stefan Decker, and another one showing that the company SK Telecom is, in fact, located in South Korea.

What does SWSE stand for?
Semantic Web Search Engine.
People pronounce it “swuasziee”, “swishy”, or “s-w-s-e”. We prefer “swizzy”.
