The Search Engine of the Day: Seeqpod
SeeqPod believes that one day, everything will be ‘playable’. They have embraced the term ‘Playable Search’. They decided to apply their sophisticated technology to music and video search so that anyone, anywhere, can search the Web for media that is publicly available, yet not always easy to find.
Currently in Beta, SeeqPod’s first consumer site empowers users by allowing them to search and discover music and video all over the Web. Their targeted crawling systems auto-submit content to the site. This, combined with user submissions, results in a large search and discovery index. This process can be viewed in real-time via the PodCrawler.
Q: Where did you ever get a name like Seeqpod? What does it mean?
A: Seeq is another way of saying “seek,” or “search,” i. e. seeking for information. The reference to “pod” is that of a ‘container’ or ‘capsule.’ When you put the two together, you get something which allows you to search for anything playable.
